The Gull Wing Bridge in Lowestoft provides a much needed third crossing over Lake Lothing. The bridge is a fine example of a bascule bridge and once in use it will be the largest bascule in the world lifted using hydraulic cylinders.
Deep Soil Mixing Ltd opted to use our new ABI TM17 Mobilram to undertake soil mixing ground improvement work to areas adjacent to the main bridge structure. The rig was equipped with one of our ABI VDW Double Auger Drives, which is typically utilised for “Front of Wall” secant pile formation (also called Cased CFA or CSP), set-up with the company’s own bespoke counter-rotating mixing tool system.
